Established
in 1986, the Tri-State Games provides opportunities for people with
disabilities from rural Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia to
participate in different sporting activities. With assistance from support
staff and volunteers all athletes, regardless of their level of ability, are
able to compete. The self esteem and confidence gained by the participants
together with the enjoyment of making new friends and seeing new places makes
this a unique community event.
In
November 2005 and again in 2006, Tri-State Games will be hosted by Community
Living and Support Services (CLASS), a local non-government organisation that
has been providing services for people with disabilities for over 18 years.
Sporting
and social events will be held in various venues in Mt. Barker and Strathalbyn.
We anticipate over 300 people will attend the games. They will be using
accommodation facilities in the Adelaide Hills and will enjoy the many tourist
attractions our region has to offer.
